For roughly 1 year I worked at House of Math – an edutech company that developed a learning platform for math: houseofmath.com

I was the one and only in-house realtime 3D artist, and part of the gamification branch. We created a bunch of different web-based 3D applications and games, and was involved all over the platform. It was a lot of fun, a lot of work, and I learned a lot.

The most notable projects I was part of (in order of appearance in showreal) was:

  • Home Base (later “Space”): When I started in HoM an early version of this project was already in place. It was meant as a space for your avatar and dragon, which you could feed at that time. I reworked both the entire Dragon setup, rigging, animations and developed the clothing and equipment logic.
  • Badges: We needed badges for various achievements on the web-page. I came up with the new modular 3D badge system HoM has today, and created a whooole bunch of them, most of which is not even available yet.
  • Boss Battle: At the end of each learning session there was a “Boss Battle” to test if you had learned the new curriculum. During my time at HoM we completely overhauled this, and I designed and created the dynamic 3D application that would play animations depending on the correctness of your answer.
  • Multiplication Master: This game was started by another intern group, but I was tasked with finishing up and polishing the visuals and sound design. “More colors!”, “Cooler screen!” These were some of the slogans ringing in my ears the entire time X) You can play the game for free here.
  • Wind Surfer: At the end of my time at HoM we had 2 groups of interns creating 1 new game each from scratch. I was one of the heavily involved supervisors for these projects. You can play the game for free here.
  • Treasure Trail: This was the other intern game I supervised. It was very fun and inspiring to see how eager the interns was working with this. You can play the game for free here.
  • Stack’n Load: This was my own intern game originally, which I got to finish later with my new collogues. I stood for all the 3D visuals and concepting. It was so, so much fun. It was my first published game, and my baby. You can try it for free here.
